The ‘Artist Edition’ is a special series based on the Five Elements—Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water—rooted in Japanese culture, expressing each element through the power of art.
For this final instalment in the series, artist Alexander Kori Girard has created an original label design centred on ‘Water’, the element symbolising life. Through his recent exploration of ‘stillness and movement’ in watercolour, he captures the gentle flow of water and the quiet vitality that lies within it.
For this release, we have lavishly selected three rare types of unpeated spirit aged in Mizunara oak casks as the key malt. By layering these with unpeated and peated spirits, we have crafted a flavour profile of great depth, where an elegant aroma reminiscent of sandalwood, a rich sweet-and-sour flavour akin to kumquat jam, and a gently unfurling smokiness harmonise. KANOSUKE’s characteristic sweetness is layered with Eastern nuances and a long finish.
Please savour to your heart’s content this profound flavour, reminiscent of the quiet yet steady cycle of life—much like the ‘water’ of ‘winter’, the season symbolising the ‘water’ element in the Five Elements theory.
