Today we are pleased to announce the arrival of “Single Malt Japanese Whisky Shizuoka Contact S”, a new limited release from Gaia Flow Shizuoka Distillery.
The number of units sold will be 5,000 and the suggested retail price will be 8,943 yen (including tax), the same as for Prologue K and Prologue W.The price is relatively affordable compared to the Japanese whiskies released by craft distilleries these days, but its popularity makes it difficult to obtain.
K and W, the first blend of two different types of original sake.
Shizuoka Distillery uses two first distillers, K (a distiller transferred from the Karuizawa distillery) and W (a wood-fired distiller), to produce two different types of sake with different characteristics. Contact S” is the first single malt that blends both of these original spirits.
The steam-heated K has a fruity aroma and light flavor, while the direct wood-fired W gives a heavy flavor and a long finish.
The main ingredients are Japanese barley malt, Scottish peated malt, non-peated malt, and beer malt. First-fill bourbon barrels are used as the main casks, and quarter casks are also used. The ingredients are mainly made in Japan.
This single malt is the fruit of the combined efforts of Shizuoka Distillery’s wooden fermenters and distillers.
