The latest addition to the Saburomaru Single Malt series, ‘Saburomaru VIII’, goes on sale on 21 May
We are pleased to announce that ‘Saburomaru VIII STRENGTH’ will go on sale in limited quantities from Thursday 21 May as the latest addition to the Saburomaru Single Malt series.
This marks the ninth instalment in the series, which began with the release of “Saburomaru 0 THE FOOL” in 2020.
On the Release of “Saburomaru VIII STRENGTH”
Cradled by the mother sea,
our souls drift upon the waves.
In 2022, the Saburomaru Distillery carried out a mash using super-heavily peated malt from Islay. As Islay peat becomes increasingly difficult to source year on year, this release is the result of persistent negotiations and a relationship of trust built on sincerity.
The rich flavour, woven from a gentle sea breeze enveloping powerful smokiness, guides our souls—cradled by the Mother Sea and drifting amongst the waves—into its depths.

At ‘BAR Shinkai’, we are serving this whisky at the following prices: 45ml: 5,280 yen, 30ml: 3,520 yen, 15ml: 1,760 yen.
