Glen Spey distillery is located in Speyside, Scotland, and was founded in 1878 by James Stuart. Originally known as “Mill of Roses,” the distillery was purchased by London-based gin manufacturer W&A Gilby in 1887 and renamed “Glen Spey.
The distillery is known for producing whiskies with light and delicate flavors. In particular, it is often used as the base spirit for the blended whisky “J&B”. It also uses a “Purifier” distiller, which produces a light, pure spirit.
Glen Spey distillery is also known as one of the places where Masataka Taketsuru learned how to make whisky. Its history and innovation have made it a respected presence in the Scotch whisky world.
TSC Glen Spey 16 Year Old was distilled on March 17, 2008 and bottled on March 20, 2024. The whisky was aged for 16 years in Laphroaig PX hogshead barrels. This aging process has resulted in a high alcohol content of 58.5% and a complex flavor profile. You will enjoy notes of herbs, sea salt, leather, oak, malt, discreet peat, rancio, and red fruit.
