This is the second barrel relay project with HOPGARDEN BREWERY (HOP JAPAN) in Miyakoji-cho, Tamura City, Fukushima Prefecture.
We will release a barrel-aged Doppelbock in 2023 using the barrels that used to contain the Asaka Distillery’s peated whisky. The 4-year-old non-peated Asaka whisky was transferred to the barrels that were returned afterwards and finished.
The full maltiness and earthy flavor characteristic of boxtiles are matched with the citrus and sweetness unique to Asaka, creating a complex and unique character. The casks used to contain Islay Peated and Asaka Peated are used, and the lingering smoky flavors add further depth.
