Shochu Richer Barrels Connecting the Evolution of Blending <Limited Quantity>
A limited-edition release from KANOSUKE’s pinnacle, DOUBLE DISTILLERY.
A family tradition passed down for 140 years. We’ve once again spotlighted the shochu richer barrels, its symbol.
DOUBLE DISTILLERY is a blended whisky that harmonizes the raw spirits from two distilleries—Kanosuke and Hioki—with the diverse character of various casks.
For the 2025 LIMITED EDITION, not only malt spirits from the Kanosuke distillery but also pot still spirits from the Hioki distillery were matured in shochu recharred casks.
These shochu recharred casks, including those used for Japan’s first cask-aged shochu “Mellow Kozuru,” are essential to shaping KANOSUKE’s unique flavor profile.
For this blend, a single malt aged in sherry casks was further finished in shochu re-charred casks and adopted as the key malt.
Adding rum cask-aged spirit as an essence gave the aroma a three-dimensional quality.
Carefully blending these spirits draws out a rich, layered harmony of mellowness, creating a deep, complex flavor enveloped in warm Japanese spices.
This new evolution of Japanese blended whisky is the story of the brothers leading their respective distilleries—a challenging spirit that carries on their grandfather’s dream and the tradition of shochu.
TASTING NOTE

The mellow sweetness of ripe pear and dried apricot, with a creamy flavor adding depth.
